Sony Studios Bio:

In 1990, the MGM Studios in Culver City was purchase by Sony Entertainment of Japan. It also houses both Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures, which are both a division of Sony. Recently, September of 2004, MGM announced that is would merge with Sony Corporation of America. Sony purchased MGM for $5 Billion. The main reason that Sony bought MGM was for its vast film library. It is the biggest library of films of color movies in the world; included in there are franchises like James Bond, The Pink Panther, and Rocky to name a few. 2002 was a great year for Sony with two giant hits: Spider-Man and Men in Black II. Other releases were Big Fish, Peter Pan, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Ali, Stuart Little II, Panic Room, and Black Hawk Down.
