CBS Studios Bio:

CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) was a joint venture by Columbia Records and New York City Talent agent, Arthur Judson. It originally went on the air on September 18, 1927 as The Columbia Phonograph Broadcasting System with 47 radio stations.

CBS first broadcast television in 1939, with 1 hour of programming per day in New York City. CBS made the first color broadcasts the following year, but using technology incompatible with existing black-and-white television.

CBS on Beverly and Fairfax was built in 1952 on the former site of Gilmore Stadium. It is next store to the also world famous Farmers Market. In 1995 Westinghouse Electric Corporation acquired CBS for $5.4 billion. In 1999 entertainment conglomerate Viacom, (Paramount Studios Parent Company Inc.), once part of the CBS television network, announced its intention to acquire CBS Corporation in a deal valued at $37 billion. The merger was completed in 2000.

CBS has an increditable history. From live taping of shows like Carol Burnett show, The Sonny & Cher Show, and of course The Ed Sullivan Show (where in 1956 they taped the appearance of Elvis Presley and where the Beetles made their US appearance) to soap operas like The Young and The Restless. CBS dominated televison as well producing such shows as I Love Lucy, Draggnet, Jack Benny, Andy Griffith, All in the Family, and M*A*S*H. Most recently they produce 60 Minutes, Everyone Loves Raymond, and lets not forget the reality shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race.

If you are interested in going to a taping of one of the CBS shows you can do so by applying for tickets on-line through CBS's main site and follow their directions. For the Late, Late Show, you can also call On Camera Audiences at: 213.833.6469

If you love any of the programs that are on CBS, you can most likely find some merchandise through their on-line store. They have DVD of your favorite shows to gear from Survivor. Check it out - http://store.cbs.com/.
